Richard Barton Jumping Clinics: (next clinic - Saturday 22nd May 2010)

Richard kindly drives down from Yorkshire to spend the day teaching at Ferry Farm once a month.

Richard is immensely popular with everyone from novice riders just learning to jump to those highly competitive and affilliated riders. He is particularly popular with nervous riders due to his unique ability to calm and encourage them to progress without exceeding their ability.

A basic clinic starts with trot poles and then canter poles to a fence to help the rider with their striding, to understand the need and gain the ability to lengthen and shorten your horses stride and to build confidence in horse and rider. Once you have atteded clinics with Richard, the time spent on these exercises is shortened as you improve your technique and knowledge.

The second part of the clinic is spent working over the full show set of jumps which will include related distances and doubles as well as various fillers. During this time you ll utilise your lessons from the pole work to improve your ability over a course. The clinic will end working on any areas of the course that caused you problems.

Clinics are usually taken as a shared session between two people, lasting one hour (don't worry if you are coming alone as we will try to pair you with someone of a similar standard).

The costs for these sessions are £35 per person for FFRC Members or £40 per person for non-members (Liveries at Ferry Farm only pay £30).

Private sessions can be arranged, these will be shorter in length.

These clinic days usually fill up very quickly so please ring 01603 721 794 as early as possible to book your clinic.
